History

A Brief History so far . . .

THE CLUB was founded in 1973 and at that time membership was restricted to past and present pupils and staff of Copleston High School. The restriction has since been lifted but the vast majority of players and officials are still linked to Copleston School in some way. Pitches for the Reserves, A Team, B Team, Vets and the thriving Youth Section, including Girls remain at the school in Copleston Road, Ipswich but the 1st team currently play their home matches at SEH Sports Ground, Humber Doucy Lane, Ipswich sharing with Ipswich Wanderers.

Coplestonians has now gained Charter Standard status and runs 3 adult mens teams as well as 2 Vets teams; all of these sides have tasted a fair measure of success over the past 44 years with the first team currently in the Senior Division of the Suffolk & Ipswich League. The Reserves play in the SIL Intermediate A league the A team are in SIL Intermediate B.

In the 2009/10 season, Coplestonians introduced an under 18 team, playing in the Eastern Counties Ridgeons Youth league (now the Thurlow Nunn League).

The Club also run a very successful Youth Section, with the teams playing in the Suffolk Youth League. Currently the Club provides free training for 4 to 7yrs on a Saturday morning followed by matches for U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14. U15, U16 and U18 age groups.

In 2016 the Club introduced Walking Football to the Club members and in 2017 merged with Copleston Centre Ladies and Girls. Currently we have teams at U10, U11, U12, U13, U15,U16.

The aim is to provide a seamless route for our young players into adult football. Development and enjoyment are the key elements to the Cops football philosophy.
