Cops Reserves had a very rare away fixture at Beccles Town Reserves where they faced last seasons finalists in the first round of the Senior Reserve Cup.

Cops started well with Huggins earning Cops a corner in the first 5 mins.
Beccles came back straight away and on 8 mins were close to taking the lead however Young made a good tackle to clear for a corner.

Cops were having plenty of possession with J King and Stevens keeping the Beccles defence busy.

On 30 mins J King broke through the middle towards goal but couldn’t quite shake off the defender and shot wide.

Cops took the lead on 43 mins when good work by D King and Stevens fed J King through. Although his first shot was saved he was quick to put the ball away at the second attempt.

Half time approached with Cops going in 1 up.

Beccles came out the second half and threw everything they had at Cops.
Allison was in good form in the Cops goal and had to be at his best on 65 mins when he saved a shot from the edge of the box.

Smith and Fairweather were using their experience in the middle to limit chances and the back 4 were soaking up all the pressure.

On 85 mins Beccles drew level when a right foot shot ended up in the back of the net.

Heartbreak for Cops but with the final whistle going the game ended 1-1.
Straight to penalties and it wasn’t going to be Cops day with them going out 4-1.

Every player should be proud of their performance today. Beccles are a good side but so are we and there was nothing to split the teams after 90 mins.

Special mention to Ref Gary High who had a good game in the middle.
We wish Beccles all the best in the next round and for the rest of the season.
Very impressive facilities they have and thanks for your hospitality.
