Match Report from Greg Abbott

In form Cops Reserves welcomed Old Newton Reserves to the Copleston Arena. After winning their opening 3 games Cops were looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Cops took the lead within 5 mins when Harris crossed for Stevens to slot home his 3rd league goal of the season.

Old Newton were looking dangerous on the break but found it difficult to break down the Cops Defence.

Cops nearly extended their lead on 35 mins when D King released J King through the middle but a great save by the Old Newton keeper kept the score at 1-0.

Half time arrived with Cops holding on to their 1 goal advantage.

Old Newton started the second half stronger and were having plenty of possession however Fox wasn’t being tested in the Cops goal.

On 60 mins Old Newton came close to scoring but were denied by Young who made a great tackle just inside the box.

Cops had a good chance to score on 70 mins when a Harris free kick was headed over by Huggins from 6 yards.

In the closing stages of the game Old Newton gained a free kick on the edge of the box but luckily for Cops the cross bar came to the rescue.

Final score 1-0 to Cops. A great performance from start to finish against a very good Old Newton side.
