Brief report on last night’s Suffolk U18’s Midweek Cup game (thanks Pete W)

Despite finally losing the game 4-1, the U18’s produced a much better performance than in the last league game and the scoreline perhaps flattered Felixstowe a little.
The first half was pretty even with Cops probably being the slightly better team, playing some good football and creating some good chances but failing to test the goalkeeper enough.  At the other end, goalkeeper Elliot Howells pulled of a couple of really good saves but could do nothing about a rocket of a header from the Felixstowe centre-half following a corner right on half time – giving Felixstowe a rather undeserved lead at the break.
Two quick goals just after half-time put Felixstowe in charge, one from a quick breakaway with defenders caught upfield and another following a poor clearance out of defence.
Cops kept playing some good football however but, again, could not test the goalkeeper enough .  Elliot Howells continued to pull off some really good saves to get the Cops “man of the match” but was beaten again near the end of the game by a super strike from 18 yards . Sean Hackett scored a well deserved consolation goal for Cops.
Some encouraging signs from the boys that they are beginning to cope better with the demands of playing Thurlow Nunn level football and they are definitely Improving.
Tough game coming up next for them – away to Needham Market, next Tuesday evening!!
