Coplestonians Reserves 3 – 0 Achilles Reserves

Cops Reserves kicked off the new season with a Travel Plus Tours Cup semi-final against Achilles Reserves. Strange way to start the season but Cops were looking to book their place in next months final.

Both sides started with attacking football and JK came close on 15mins with a long range shot which went just wide. Cops went close to taking the lead on 30mins when Abbott crossed from the right but JK managed to fire over the bar from close range. Both sides were giving little away and half time arrived goalless.

The second half started with Achilles starting to put more pressure on the Cops defence however the solid partnership of Dale and Miller were coming out on top. Patience finally paid off for Cops when they took the lead. Some great work by Stevens resulted in Harris slotting past the Keeper. Cops were now on top and the midfield were taking control of the game.

Achilles started to push people forward and were going for the equaliser. Grimwood came close for the visitors by missing from close range.

Cops were dominating all over the field and JK went close to extending the lead when his fierce shot just going over. Cops were going for the second goal and the wait was worth it.
Some good possession play in the middle resulted in Huggins collecting the ball wide. After going past the Achilles right back his cross was met by Stevens with a diving header.

Cops were now in total control of the game and in the last few minutes added a third when a Doncic free kick was met by Stevens for his second of the game.

The final whistle came and Cops booked their place in the Final. A great team performance from everyone involved. Very hard to pick a MOTM. Smith was outstanding from start to finish and Stevens took his chances well. But for me Ewan Miller steals it with an impressive performance at left back.
